Kazakhstan motor pool continues to age
Kazakhstan’s motor vehicle pool continues to age.
In general, KazAvtoProm noted that during January-March 284 649 vehicles were registered by the administrative bodies, which is 13.6% higher on-year. Of these, 269,353 vehicles account for the secondary registration, with replaced owners, which is 12.3% higher than a year ago (239,797 units). The contribution of the primary registered vehicles is 15 296 units, which is 42.4% higher than in 2017.
As of March 2018, 97 050 vehicles were registered, exceeding last year's index by 9.9%. Of these, 91 782 vehicles were resold in the secondary market (+ 8.9% against March 2017).
Over two thirds (68.6%) of the vehicles re-registered in the first quarter of 2018 were over 10 years old. The largest share was taken by vehicles older than 20 years (38.8%, or 104,407 units), from 11 to 20 years - 29.8% (80 369 units), from 4 to 7 years - 20.9% (56 239 units), from 8 to 10 years - 5.8% (15 531 units), from 1 to 3 years - 3.2% (8 692 units), less than 1 year - 1.5% (4,115 units).
